LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A rollover that happened around 7 a.m. is caused major traffic delays for motorists traveling southbound on US Highway 87 near 98th Street Wednesday morning.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the first crash happened before the 98th Street exit and the second crash happened on the overpass. Both crashes occurred around the same time. The vehicle that crashed on the overpass rolled.

According to DPS, there is a six- to eight-inch drop-off between the left and right lanes on Highway 87 due to construction. One of the drivers says it was very dark outside and the car dropped off the road and couldn't get back up.

DPS says there are no serious injuries but there is damage to the guardrail.

TxDOT has cleared the scene.
