Lubbock & surrounding counties included in disaster declaration for recent drought

LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 60 Texas counties, including Lubbock and surrounding counties, as primary natural disaster areas because of loss and damage in the recent drought.

According to the Brownfield News, qualifying farm and ranch operators will be eligible for emergency loans from the USDA Farm Service Agency. Those qualifying will have until November 11th to apply for loans to help cover their losses.

The counties in the designation include Lubbock, Terry, Dawson, Lynn, Gaines, Yoakum and Hockley.
