Texas Senate race officially begins

Senator Ted Cruz officially announced his re-election campaign Monday, using a new "Tough as Texas" slogan, championing the efforts of Texans in response to Hurricane Harvey.

Cruz now embarks on a three-day, 12-city campaign throughout Texas. The closest Cruz will come to the South Plains this time around will be a stop in Midland at Discovery Operating Inc. at 2600 Mockingbird Lane on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Cruz will visit West Texas A&M in Canyon at noon.

Beto O'Rourke, the Democratic candidate for the Texas Senate, will be in the South Plains this weekend. On Sunday morning at 10 AM, O'Rourke will be at J&M Caprock Cafe in Dickens. At 1 p.m., he will be in Floydada at the Massie Activity Center. At 8 p.m, O'Rourke will be hosting a town hall at Texas Tech.
