IDALOU, TX (KCBD) -

This Sunday at 2 p.m., the Lubbock Dragway located at 9902 E CR6300 off 400 in Idalou opens the season of 1/8th of a mile races.

It's something the No. 1 ranked drag racer Brad Fetter absolutely enjoys.

"I love the competition. Just pulling up in the lanes, big motors, cubic inch nitrous, just power."

Mike Brown of Mike Brown racing says it's great that the track allows anyone to come race legally.

"We're kinda glad when it is open. It keeps us from going to jail on the street racing. We're happy Dennis allows us to come out here and do this"

Lubbock's Jason Dennis completely changed up his car this season.

"Everything is new on this thing. We changed everything. We are fixing to have an adventure here."

Brad says that It's a fun event for the whole family.

"I say bring your BBQ, bring some meat, watch and bet on the races. Just have a good time. Lot of people, they don't know about it. I think they're only charging $10 to get in. We have 1500 to 2500 horsepower stuff going down the track out here."
