NAZARETH, TX (KCBD) -

John Stanaland is leaving Nazareth after five seasons to become the Head football Coach at Rotan. Stanaland tells me the move is to get closer to his family and the grandparents.

Stanaland turned Nazareth into a 6-man powerhouse in his time there. After a 2-8 season, his teams won 7,9,8,8 as he went 34-21 with the Swifts. They made the playoffs 4 of his 5 seasons there and in 2016, they won the district title for the first time in 10 years. He made football relevant in a basketball town.

Ironically, Rotan plays Jayton in week 6. John’s Brother Josh is the coach at Jayton so it will be a Stanaland showdown. John tells me he doesn’t know what his parents will do that week.

We wish John Stanaland the best.
