The National Weather Service along with local weather services are forecasting potential Fire Weather days for the City of Lubbock and surrounding areas starting tomorrow Wednesday April 11th through Saturday April 14th.

Thursday April 12th and Friday April 13th may be the most extreme fire weather days this year. Due to sustained high winds, dry conditions, dry vegetation, and high temperatures the area will be in a condition that is highly favorable for a fire to become out of control in a short time.

At this time Lubbock Fire Rescue is asking all citizens to use extreme caution the next few days and please refrain from all outdoor burning and properly discard smoking material. Also during this time we ask everyone to please call 911 immediately at the first sign of a fire. Lubbock Fire Rescue will increase staffing and response during this time.

Lubbock Fire Rescue and the Office of Emergency Management will coordinate with state and local resources to help control any incidents that happen during this time to protect the City of Lubbock.
