DICKENS COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - 10: 53 p.m.

The Dickens Volunteer Fire Department was able to report Friday night the fire was 100 percent contained.

This was partly due to a wind shift near the area that gave the responding departments an advantage and eased their work in the area. The fire was checked again Saturday morning for reassurance and is still contained.

8:41 p.m.

A voluntary evacuation is underway in the community of Afton as firefighters continue their efforts in Dickens County.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reports that these fires are 65 percent contained as of Friday night, with "very active fire behavior."

The affected area is estimated at 6,500 acres.
