LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police are still searching for a suspect after he ran from police and crashed his vehicle at 48th & Avenue P. At 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, police shut down the intersection to continue their investigation. The intersection was shut down for about two hours.
Police tell us the suspect ran from them as they tried to perform a traffic stop on a white F150 pickup that had been reported stolen back in February.
They say the driver took the vehicle at a high rate of speed down 50th, headed east at Avenue Q until he got to Avenue P and turned north.
By the time the officer caught up to him, the truck had crashed into a utility pole and the suspect ran away from the scene.
The passenger was taken to the hospital for minor airbag injuries and has not been charged or detained as of Tuesday night.
Police are still searching for the suspect who fled on foot. Accident investigators are on the scene.
Police tell us the suspect is facing three felony charges, evading in a vehicle, evading on foot, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
