Texas Tech University is now enrolling students from universities hit by Hurricane Katrina. Six undergrads and three law students have already been admitted. Ten inquires have been received. Texas Tech will waive emergency loan fees.
Texas Tech Chancellor David Smith says, "Our message is one of sympathy and compassion. This takes human compassion to respond to this kind of devastation. We are in this for the long run and there are no easy fixes."
In addition to Friday's announcement, a group of student volunteers will be traveling to affected areas next week to provide relief.
