Lubbock is gearing up for an exciting weekend of boxing, as the Hub City is expected to welcome over 500 spectators and 90 competitors for the West Texas Junior Olympics Box-Off.
The event will take place at the South Plains Fairgrounds starting Saturday at 5 p.m., continuing Sunday at 12 p.m.
Competitors from the ages of 8 to 16 years old will be competing for the title of Best of the West.
Winners will have the opportunity to advance to the State Junior Olympics in Houston.
"This is a great event for the junior athletes that want to compete at a higher level", said Rosie Barker, owner of The Lubbock Boxing Club. "We are excited to bring this level of talent to the Lubbock area, and get to show what these competitors can do."
