2 injured, 1 killed in Wednesday afternoon accident south of Brownfield

The Texas Department of Public Safety was called to a fatal crash at approximately 4:45 p.m.

The crash occurred approximately eight miles south of Brownfield on US 62 in the north bound lanes. A tractor trailer semi-trailer was traveling northbound when a pickup struck it from behind.

The pickup caught on fire, the driver 19-year-old James Daley of Lubbock and 9-year-old Bartley John Daley of Lubbock juvenile passenger were transported to UMC with incapacitating injuries. One passenger was reported deceased at scene, 17-year-old Patrick Daley of Lubbock. All three occupants are brothers.

The driver of the semi was not injured 55-year-old Jon Wade McKechnie of Gorman Tx.

The semi also caught on fire after pickup caught on fire. The roadway will be closed due to extensive damage to the road and traffic will be detoured. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes if traveling through that area. TXDOT will be detouring traffic.
