Texas tops Red Raiders in sold out series opener

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

No. 18 Texas knocked off Texas Tech 12-6 Friday night in the first of three straight sold out games at Rip Griffin Park.

The Red Raiders lose for just the third time in 25 games at home.

Texas put up six runs in the 3rd to go up 7-1.

The Red Raiders started chipping away with two in the 3rd and three in the 7th.

Davis Martin went six innings, giving up nine hits and seven runs with four strikeouts.

Texas Tech falls to 34-13 overall and 11-8 in the Big 12.

Saturday's game is at 1 p.m. The first 1,700 fans will receive a Tim Tadlock bobblehead doll.
