LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - After months of planning, hundreds of kids across the Lubbock community "opened shop" for Lemonade Day.
Yesterday, Sydney and I decided to enjoy the weather, after riding in the Cinco de Mayo parade, and we also enjoyed several cups of lemonade and lots of snacks to do our part in helping young entrepreneurs learn what it takes to own and operate a small business.
When it comes to managing a business, It's never too early to begin planning for the future so if you didn't participate in Lemonade Day as a young business owner you can find information on how to get started for the next event on their website at http://www.lemonadeday.org/lubbock.
Lemonade Day is a great event for helping our youth to experience starting and running a business, but it also gives adults the opportunity to volunteer and mentor others. Current and retired business owners can impact the lives of children they know by volunteering and sharing their knowledge of business management.
Since 2012, Lubbock children have been discovering how to "become the business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow...one lemonade stand at a time!"
A wrap-up event will be held on Friday May 11th from 5-8pm for Lemonade Day participants at the Sun-n-fun near 62nd and Elgin Avenue. Details on the wrap-up event and information on how you can volunteer for future events can be found online at http://www.lemonadeday.org/lubbock.
We had a great time meeting all of you yesterday and we thank you for all of the Lemonade and LOVE!
