This year, a city memorial will involve Katrina victims and survivors staying right here in Lubbock. This year Reese Center will be the home of the annual 'American Tribute.' The Center is currently housing more than 400 Katrina survivors. The survivors have inspired American State Bank to change the location of the memorial.
For the past two years, Lubbockites have paid tribute to those who died in the September 11th terrorist attack. Every year, Kastman Park becomes a field of remembrance. One thousand flags wave in the park to honor victims and first responders.
The survivors began arriving in Lubbock on Sunday. While 15 have already made their way out of Lubbock, many will still be here for the tribute. It is this Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
