(KCBD) - Crews from the Ransom Canyon Volunteer Fire Department headed north on Friday night to help fight the Mallard fire.

The assistant fire chief says their brush command truck will be stationed in Goodnight, which is just north of the fire.

This is part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid system.

Lubbock-area crews have been called to assist and relieve other crews.

The Mallard fire covers more than 60,000 acres.
