Seminole resident killed, child injured in head-on collision on US 380

YOAKUM COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Texas DPS is investigating a fatal accident that happened on US 380 one mile west of FM 1780 Tuesday morning around 8:40 a.m.

DPS says this was a head-on collision involving two vehicles pulling farm trailers.

DPS says the vehicle, a Chevy pickup, traveling east on US 380 lost control due to the left front wheel coming off the pickup. The driver was not able to control vehicle, forcing it into oncoming traffic.

The driver of the Chevy, Cornelio Krahn Schmidt, 39, of Seminole was pronounced deceased at scene

The other vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup traveling west on US 380, was driven by David Harder, 33, of Brownfield. DPS says Harder was not injured but his five year old son was taken to Brownfield Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.

The accident happened in Yoakum County east of Plains, near Tokio, TX.
