LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Christian Eagles baseball team is heading to State for the fifth straight season, having won three straight TAPPS State Titles.

They got a sendoff from the school Tuesday morning as they boarded a bus for the eight-and-a-half-hour drive to Crosby, Texas for their Wednesday State Semifinal game against Arlington Pantego.

Head Coach Jeremy Mayo has enjoyed keeping the streak to State going.

"I've said it once, I've said it a million times. It never gets old going back to State. We're excited and the boys are ready to go. It's like a normal trip for them."

Lubbock Christian is happy to be heading back to State after showing incredible heart of a champion in the Regional Final. The Eagles trailed 6-0 in the bottom of the 6th when they racked up 10 runs to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Coach Mayo was super proud of their efforts.

"The boys never give up. I set the schedule early this year to battle test them and get them ready. I think it worked. We were down 6-0 and kept fighting and kept clawing. We got a couple back and we erupted for a 10-spot in the 6th.

The Eagles have confidence as they look for their 4th straight State Championship.

"They're ready to go and they think they're going to win which is half the battle. We are going to play our game and let the game take care of itself."
