TURKEY, TX (KCBD) -

They were celebrating in Valley and Quitaque as the Valley boys won their 2nd straight Class 1A State Track and Field Championship over the weekend. Wednesday, the team showed off their medals and talked about their incredible accomplishment.

Senior Jake Merrell won the Gold in the 800 meter run, 1600 meter run and 4X400 relay. He's heading to Baylor next year and he's proud the Patriots brought home the State Title again.

"Doing that at the State meet, walking away with a State record and a victory, it was extremely exciting for me and extremely memorable. We had we had probably the whole town there. It was crazy. We had a lot of supporters there. We are extremely blessed, me and the guys for having them behind us.

Coach Brandon Smith knows these guys gave everything they had out on the track.

"We literally left it on the track in Austin. Jayton Smith fell at the end of the 4X100. He left some skin on the track. Dax Allen fell in the 4 by 200. He left a little skin on the track. It comes back to these kids stepping up and giving all they have and laying it all out there.
