LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - 22-year-old Kivalier Russell was indicted by a Lubbock County Grand Jury on Tuesday, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a Depot District shooting that happened back on May 13.
Russell turned himself in on May 22 and was arrested, charged with the May 13 shooting that injured a 25-year-old male near the 1800 block of Buddy Holly Avenue.
Russell turned himself in at around 7:30 p.m. Monday evening after an aggravated assault warrant was issued on Friday, according to a Lubbock Police Department news release. Russell was also arrested for two other warrants that were not related to this case.
He is currently booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center on two charges of domestic assault and one charge of aggravated assault causing bodily injury with a deadly weapon.
An initial investigation into this case has found two groups of people got into a physical altercation the night of the shooting. Once the fight was broken up one of the groups got into a vehicle to leave, but was shot at, resulting in the one injury.
The case remains under investigation and there is a possibility more arrest will be made, according to LPD.
