Candidates thank voters after Parrish win in county judge race

LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

In the Republican runoff for Lubbock County Judge, Curtis Parrish defeated Gary Boren with 54 percent of the votes.

Parrish made the announcement to his watch party at WestMark Realtors shortly after 9 p.m. in front of an obviously ecstatic crowd, including friends and family members.

Parrish led everyone in prayer and the crowd broke out into How Great Art Thou. We spoke with Parrish about his message for his supporters.

"We are just grateful and thankful. We were at a great place that we knew that our message resounded with the voters and then we put it in their hands and then trusted the people of Lubbock County to make that decision. That's what elections are about. You set your message and then you trust the voters to either accept that message or not. It is We The People at the end of the day...we are very honored that the people of Lubbock County are choosing to allow us to serve as County Judge."

Parrish said that his opponent, Gary Boren, called to congratulate him when the final numbers came in.

Shortly after leaving the Parrish watch party, we received a call from Boren about the results.

Boren wanted to thank his wife, daughters, mom, sisters, and his entire family for their support, along with the entire Lubbock County community.

"How do you ever thank people enough? Words can't describe it."

Boren says that Lubbock County is a great place to live and raise a family, and he appreciates the support.

He said we need to trust in the democratic process and the entire community must now get behind Curtis Parrish.
