Lubbock ISD students are turning their classroom into a meal for thousands this week.
Coronado High culinary students prepared meals for 1,600 Katrina survivors and volunteers at Reese Thursday. City Bank donated $2,000 for the meals.
"It's a very good experience for the kids to be able to come in and get hands on, and to be able to work with some of the chefs who came in to help us. Plus, we had other community people who came in and said 'just let me help,'" said Mary Jane Sampson, Hospitality Educator for Coronado High School.
The students will prepare 1,600 meals again Friday.
