LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock County Republican Party voted unanimously to authorize its chair, Steve Evans, to take the steps in district court to remove C.J. Peterson, the Lubbock County Precinct 4 constable.
Peterson, who was arrested May 6 for Driving While Intoxicated has been able to stay in his position. The decision to start removal proceedings was made Thursday night during a quarterly executive committee meeting for the Lubbock County Republican Party, according to a LCRP news release.
However, the authorization to take action was given pending the blood test results of Peterson, according to the release. Peterson was also informed of the discussion and given the opportunity to attend the meeting and voice his own concerns but did not appear.
