Texas Tech Men's Golf advances to match-play quarterfinals at NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, OK (KCBD) - Going into the fourth round of the NCAA Championships, the Red Raider Golf team was sitting in third place and had to finish in the top eight to advance to the Quarterfinals.

Through the first nine holes Monday afternoon, the Red Raiders struggled and dropped down to sixth place.

But after battling back on the back nine and sinking multiple birdies, and even an eagle.

Texas Tech finished the day in third place and were nine-strokes over par.

With the team finishing in the top eight, they advance to the match-play portion of the tournament.

The seeding at the end of stroke play will be as follows:

  • #1 Oklahoma State vs. #8 Texas A&M
  • #4 Oklahoma vs. #5 Auburn
  • #3 Texas Tech vs. #6 Alabama
  • #2 Duke vs. #7 Texas

The Golf Channel will carry the broadcast of the quarterfinals at noon ET on Tuesday.

The semifinals are scheduled for later in the day.
