She was born in Indian territory before Oklahoma was a state, but she moved to Texas and graduated from Pleasant Valley High School, near post. Now, in New Deal, Agnes Rinker has a birthday party tomorrow. At 100 years old, she is the matriarch of 5 generations, with 11 great great great grandchildren. So, what's her secret to a long healthy life?
"One of the things I do is I try to hold my temper. I don't believe in people flying of the handle and getting mad at nothing. There's always a remedy, andI would rather buy gasoline and go somewhere than spend it on smoking and drinkin," says Agnes Rinker from New Deal who is 100 years old.
Agnes still crochets blankets large and small and makes clothes for dolls. She buys her own groceries, does crossword puzzles and just finished reading this book, because she says if you keep your mind busy, your body won't wear out as quick. If you want to wish Agnes a happy birthday, that century celebration is tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in New Deal from 2 to 4:00 p.m.
