Red Raiders roll in NCAA Regional opener over NM State

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Getting three runs in the first inning, the Red Raiders topped New Mexico State 9-2 to move into the winner's bracket.

Texas Tech opted to play the early game at Rip Griffin Park, where the temperature on the turf was over 150 degrees.

The Red Raiders bats were just as hot as Zach Rheams hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the first. Tech led 3-0 after 1.

Dylan Dusek got the start going two innings before giving way to Ryan Shetter who went 5 on the mound giving up 3 hits and 1 run.

Texas Tech is now 24-5 overall at home.

Louisville beat Kent State 13-6 for their 16th straight NCAA Regional win so the Red Raiders will face Louisville 7 p.m. Saturday.
