Lubbock native, Kathy Shipp, reappointed to Texas Board of Nursing

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) - Verna "Kathy" Shipp has been reappointed to the Texas Board of Nursing, which will extend her current term to January 31, 2023.

In her position, she will be one of many who oversees the practice of professional nursing, examination of students and the standards of professional conduct for nursing license holders, according to a news release from the governor's office.

Shipp is currently a nurse practitioner who is also a faculty member of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at West Texas A&M University. She also sees family planning patients part-time for the South Plains Public Health District.

Shipp is an alumna of West Texas State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and University of Texas at Austin where she received a Master's Degree in nursing.

In 2011 she was appointed to her first term on the board and in January of 2013 was named the president of the board. She will now continue to serve her role as chairman of the board.
