Overnight Car Accident Cuts Power To Hundreds In South Lubbock County

Officials say a suspected drunk driver caused an accident that cut power to hundreds of residents in South Lubbock County. At least 200 homes were affected Tuesday morning.

DPS officers say just before midnight, 48-year-old Donna Luckie lost control of her car and hit an electric pole at 148th Street & Indiana. The impact caused the pole to snap, tangling the lines. Crews cut power for 45 minutes so they could repair the lines. DPS, Woodrow Fire Department and EMS responded to the accident.

Luckie was taken to Covenant Hospital with minor injuries. DPS tells us alcohol was a factor in the accident. Right now, Luckie is in the Lubbock County Jail for driving while intoxicated.
