Lubbock Police Investigate Homicide At City Landfill

Lubbock Police have released new information about the woman found dead at the city landfill.

Her name is Summer Baldwin. She was 29 years old. Police say a worker found her body inside a suitcase at a commercial dumping site. From the time the landfill opened at 7 a.m., until the body was found around 10 a.m., at least 40 trucks had dumped their trash in that area.

"Just to let you know, we've locked down the landfill, it is restricted and will be until we're through with the crime scene," said Lubbock Police Chief Assistant Thomas Esparza.

Esparza says the medical examiner will begin an autopsy Wednesday morning. Police are asking anyone with information about Summer Baldwin to call Crime Line at 741-1000. You can remain anonymous.
