Drivers on the west loop can look forward to a few changes in the next few days. It's all part of the Marsha Sharp Project.
Right now, TX-Dot is opening the West Loop main lanes from Slide Road to 34th Street. Lanes have been closed for more than a year as crews have been widening them from four to six lanes.
"We widened the West Loop to accommodate additional traffic that will be coming off the Marsha Sharp Freeway," explains Penny Mason, public information officer for TX-dot.
Expect some delays, TX-dot encourages drivers to slow down as these changes take place. Again, this process will take several days but we're told this portion of the West Loop she be opened by the weekend.
