Today, Lubbock has about 200 new residents. Katrina survivors are choosing to staying in Lubbock.
The survivors have moved into their apartments. Movers spent the day delivering furniture to them. The city of Lubbock purchased kitchen dinettes, couches, and chairs.
Survivor Joyce Jones has her apartment set up and just got her furniture today. "I love the people in Lubbock. They have got a real nice way to treat people. And they helped us real nice. I sure thank the Salvation Army and the people that helped us," said Joyce.
The city of Lubbock says FEMA will reimburse for all the city's expenses.
