Levelland is breaking records in the cotton industry. United Cotton Growers Gin, ginned more cotton than any other gin in the state of Texas this past season. They ginned 128,214 bales of cotton and they're about ready to do it all over again when ginning season starts in October.
Buz Poage tells us the largest cotton patch in the world is right here in Levelland. He's president of All Tex Seed, the last independent cotton seed company in the nation. Poage says, "There's about 110 uses for the by products of cotton seed. Nothing is wasted." All Tex takes its seeds to Mexico, Puerto Rico and Coasta Rica to grow in the winter and they plant them back here in May.
