The Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa is small but busy. On an average day, they may have just 8 patients there overnight, but they take care of about 7 thousand patients in the E.R. every year, and that's why plans are underway for a brand new state of the art facility with 25 beds if they need them. Our country doc tonight is actually a nurse, who says she literally climbed up from nursing school to practice as a full fledged nurse when she got her degree.
"School was in the basement in 1969. I was the last one or one of the last that went to school in our basement. We got paid $50 a month for my rent and grocieries. Graduated. Licensed here and have been here ever since, says Julia Conteras an L.V.N. Groundbreaking for the new medical arts hospital is set for early next year.
