Steven Gingery pays off mom's debt with signing bonus

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Red Raider pitcher Steven Gingery was drafted in the 4th round with pick No. 123 by the St. Louis Cardinals last month. When he signed he made almost double as he pocketed $825,000. The value of pick No. 123 is $446,900.

On Tuesday we learned what Gingery did with his signing bonus as he paid of his mother's debt. She tweeted out about it.

"I never thought this moment would come. As a single mother, credit cards became my best friend, raising two kids was hard and I relied on them. The feeling when your kids pay your debt off is unimaginable. My life just changes when my son was drafted in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals Organization. The first thing he did when he got his bonus was think of me. Such an amazing and overwhelming feeling when your 20 year old son asks you "How much debt are you in?"  I just want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to raise such an amazing being. Thank you @cardinals for drafting him, you guys won't regret it and thank you so much @steven_gingery for thinking of your mom. I love you so much. God Bless you son."

What a class move by Gingery to help out his mom.
