340 employees work for Lamesa ISD. A third of those employees, including the superintendent are Lamesa graduates.
"When you get out in the world and understand the values and things that are important in life, the family and core values, Lamesa comes back to be a good place to raise a family," said Lamesa ISD Superintendent, Keith Bryant.
Many teachers are teaching in the same classrooms they once sat in as students.
"The values that I had that were instilled in me are values that are still being taught here in Lamesa at this school system," said Science teacher and Lamesa Middle School Coach, Juan Carrion.
Carrion says he originally saw education as a way out of Lamesa. But as he grew older, he wanted to come home and give back to the community.
