Isolated storms over the region late last night and into early Friday for the area. For those fortunate folks, amounts have varied from ½” to near 1”. The rain chances will continue through Friday evening and possibly into early Saturday morning.
After that, the rain chances will decrease and the monsoon moisture moves to the west leaving drier air on the south plains. Rain chances will not disappear but return to isolated Saturday afternoon through Monday.
Temperatures will also change this weekend and will climb a little closer to the century mark, especially along and east of the caprock.
Daytime highs will stay around the mid 90s on Friday then move to the upper 90s by Saturday and Sunday. The heat will continue through early next week with the hottest areas along and east of the caprock.
It looks like the heat will hang around through most of next week with low rain chances.
