Because of a waterline break Wednesday night, the residents of Brownfield have been asked to boil their water until further notice. City officials say due to reduced water pressure in the public water system, all customers need to boil their water before using it to wash hands or face, brush teeth or drink.
Officials say children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.
All water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
The city will notify residents when the boil water advisory has been lifted.
