BORDEN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

In the past two seasons, the Borden County Coyotes have gone 29-1 and won back to back UIL Class 1A Division 1 State Championships at Cowboys Stadium.

Head Coach Trey Richey and the guys from Gail are Preseason ranked No. 1 because they know how to win. Once again, young Coyotes will step up to fill the holes from graduation.

"In back to back years we lost eight and now six last year. Any time at our level you lose 14 kids in a two-year stretch, it puts you in a bind. Our depth is not going to be what it's been. It means a lot to the kids to be ranked pretty high. I guess it's flattering to have a target on your chest, because that means you're doing something right."

Borden County has a strong non-district schedule with Union Hill and Strawn as they look to try to win another District Championship.

"It's gonna be a challenge. Goal number one is to try to win a District Championship. Success breeds success and when one thing is going well, it seems like it snowballs into the next and kids buy into it."
