HALL COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Xcel Energy will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday to highlight the construction of the Hale Wind Project, one of two large wind farms the company is opening.
The site for the Hale Wind Project is on Farm-to-Market Road 37 and County Road Z, according to an Xcel news release. This facility will be a 478-megawatt wind energy farm that, once complete, will open 20 full-time service operator positions once it opens in 2019.
The wind farm will include 239 wind turbines that will create enough renewable energy to power about 170,000 homes.
Construction has already started on the facility, but the ceremony is a way to highlight the advances in wind energy.
The site in Plainview is just one of its newest wind energy farms. In July the company announced the purchase of both the Hale Wind Project and the NextEra Energy Resources project, which will be built in Roosevelt County, New Mexico.
Those wishing to attend the groundbreaking ceremony are asked to RSVP by contacting Sarah Gedrose at firstname.lastname@example.org.
