Six Lubbock schools are in Food for Thought this week. Three of them were perfect on their health inspection, three were not.

Here is a complete list of the restaurants and their violations for the week ending on 9/22/05.

The Rush Elementary Roadrunners on 15th Street ran through their health inspection with flying colors. The Roadrunners are top performers with zero critical violations. Over at Wester Elementary on Chicago, the Whirlwinds had a whirlwind of a health inspection, also with zero critical violations. The Wheatley Elementary Tigers are top performers too. The East 28th Street school had a perfect inspection.

Smylie Wilson Junior High on 31st Street just had one critical violation.

  • Condensation in a freezer was dripping onto food below.

Coronado High School on Vicksburg was cited for:

  • Condensation in a freezer was dripping onto food below.
  • Damaged or soiled food contact surfaces.

Stewart Elementary on 46th also had two critical violations.

  • Mashed potatoes were holding at 110 degrees. Hot foods must be held at 140 degrees.
  • A thermometer was not properly calibrated.

Aramark School Support Services manages Lubbock Independent School District's cafeterias.

As for restaurants this week, only top performers! Aunt Norie's Confections at 5217 82nd Street doesn't need sugar to sweeten us up. A flawless performance with zero critical violations on their last health inspection earns them top performer status.

Jumbo Joe's #2 at 3218 34th Street also had a big inspection with a perfect score.

Picantes at 3814 34th Street spices up the Food for Thought report as our final top performer.
