Hurricane Evacuees Arrive in Lubbock by the Hundreds

Hurricane Rita evacuees began arriving Thursday night. On Friday morning two planes of 100 evacuees landed at Preston Smith International airport.

We're told some flight passengers were Louisiana that were staying in Houston. Some of the evacuees are "special needs" passengers. This means the elderly, some require walkers and wheelchairs.

About 500 evacuees are at Reese Center. The city is sending the next groups to the Coliseum.
