Filling Up the South Plains Food Bank Pantry

The South Plains Food Bank is a staging area for hurricane relief on the Gulf Coast, but the pantry is starting to run low. The Food Bank will ship food to Hurricane Rita victims. But at the same time, it's helping provide food to Lubbock evacuation shelters and Lubbock families who are housing additional family and friends due to the hurricane.

This weekend, two fundraisers helped fill that pantry.

Four Texas Tech students sponsored Operation Collaboration Saturday. The students set up a food drive at Albertson's on 50th and Indiana.

The Wings Miniature Aircraft Society flew model planes at Reese Sunday. The first flight took off at 9am and flew until sundown. Food and monetary donations were taken.
