Eighteen deputies with the Lubbock Sheriff's Department are in Port Arthur and six more deputies are on the way.
The first team left Lubbock on Friday. They took a thirty-eight foot mobile command unit with satellite telephone and television, and 1,300 gallons of fuel.
"We are capable for operating indefinitely. We will send our units down and resupply them every week or so, as needed," said Lubbock County Sheriff David Gutierrez.
Deputies will provide relief as long as necessary.
