This morning a group of 110 Gulf Coast evacuees left Lubbock. Their plane departed Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport just before 7:30 a.m. The group was originally scheduled to leave Monday night but their flight was cancelled. Passengers are "special needs" evacuees, meaning many have health issues or are elderly.
On Sunday 300 evacuees left Lubbock by bus. Today, the city is also organizing more transportation so that up to 250 evacuees can also depart by bus. We will have the latest on remaining evacuees coming up on NewsChannel 11 at Noon.
