Lubbock gymnast brings home two medals

(KCBD) - Over this past weekend, The United States won a total of six medals at the 2018 Pan Am Championships.

Two of the medals will be coming to the Hub-City, as Lubbock's own Olivia Simpson represented team USA in Lima, Peru.

In the team competition, Olivia Simpson and the U.S. women won the gold medal.

Nicole Ahsinger tallied a 53.580, with Jessica Stevens earning a 51.280 and Olivia Simpson a 50.080.

Argentina took the silver (49.145/49.020/44.210) and Mexico the bronze (54.060/50.265/24.605).

Canada was fourth and Brazil came in fifth.

In the synchronized trampoline, Simpson along with Ahsinger took second at 42.230.

Canada earned the Pan Am title with a 46.140, with Brazil coming in third with a 37.730.

Simpson will travel to Russia for the World Championships in October, where she will be competing in trampoline and synchronized trampoline.
