The U.S. Army is giving Whiteface Elementary students a head-start on their college savings.
Monday, the army presented a team of 6th graders with $8,000 savings bonds. The team, called The Scienteers, placed first in the nation in the army's E-Cybermission contest. It's a web-based competition where students solve community problems with math, science and technology.
The regional second place team also came from Whiteface Elementary. The army gave each of those students a $3,000 savings bond.
