Tuesday parents of O.L. Slaton Junior High School students will come together to discuss the fate of their students. This, after LISD officials announced a plan to shut down the school. Officials say the school will be changed into an "arts and broadcasting" career complex.
Since the announcement parents and students have protested the closure. They've made t-shirts and even held a peaceful rally on Friday morning. A public hearing is scheduled for October 11th at 6 p.m. at the LISD Administration Building.
Meanwhile, parents aren't giving up just yet. The Parent-Teacher Association will meet Tuesday night at 7 at O.L. Slaton. PTA President Kimberly Kennedy tells us students, alumni and anyone from the community is invited.
