A deadly trench collapse could cost a Wolfforth construction company more than $108,000.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, is proposing a hefty fine against the Utility Contractors of America. OSHA cited the company for nine violations for not protecting employees involved in excavation work. OSHA says those violations contributed to the death of Rafael Castillo on April 5th.
Castillo was working at the bottom of a thirty-foot trench in southeast Lubbock when it collapsed. The Castillo family has also filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the construction company.
