Final 34 Hurricane Rita Evacuees Leave Lubbock - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Lubbock is no longer housing Hurricane Rita evacuees.

The final 34 evacuees left for Baytown Monday morning. Damage to the Baytown Nursing Home delayed their trip but the evacuees were able to fly out of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport Monday morning. FEMA will cover the transportation expenses.

Meanwhile, the remaining Hurricane Katrina survivors staying in Lubbock are the ones who've decided to make the Hub City their permanent home.
