A warning from the Better Business Bureau. Someone is trying to scam you and they're trying to do it through the mail.
It's called the Cross Border Lottery scam. You get a check in the mail, saying you've won prizes from $2,000 to $9,000. Better Business Bureau President Nan Campbell says, "We just believe that people should be aware that when they receive a check like this in the mail that it is not a real check and that trying to cash it, could, could get them into even more trouble." Campbell says if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
If you do receive one of those checks in the mail, call the Better Business Bureau at (806) 763-0459.
