One-third of all traffic accidents in Lubbock occur because of drunk or aggressive drivers. The Lubbock Police Department will now be targeting those drivers with a little extra aid.
Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation presented a $100,000 check to the Lubbock Police Department. The grant will be used for educational programs on the dangers and penalties of drunk and aggressive driving. Sgt. Mike Steen says, "This grant allows us to put extra officers on the street to watch for not only impaired drivers but folks who are driving over the speed limit." The traffic enforcement grant is federally funded.
